Our Pet of the Week is Roman Dysart. Romans humans are Dana and Dave Dysart. Roman has been coming to Stuart for longer than many of us.

He’s a 16 year old “super-senior” husky/chow mix adopted from a shelter. Originally a stray transferred from Spokane. Favorite activity: chasing the deer, fishing and riding in the boat. Fun fact: he loves to eat bees!!🐝 He been coming to Stuart for 14 years. Favorite sidekick: Oliver “booboo”

The fishing sections has been updated with info re 2020 prawning. But in summary, it opens May 28, then again June 1-13, and then June 18 we can prawn on Thursdays thru Sundays until our quota is met and they close us down.
Hello to all of our island neighbors,Stuart Island has been a very pleasant place to be during these chaotic times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the sun still rises and sets on what for everyone is our piece of paradise in this world. We all hope that you all have found safety and have been staying healthy along with the rest of your family and friends.Due to the unique and unusual circumstances this year with the Governor’s stay at home proclamation and social distancing, myself and the Board have decided to delay the 2020 annual meeting until July. Even though there is no accommodation in our bylaws for governmental mandates such as these, by waiting there is a better chance of having a productive meeting. By then, we might be in a better circumstance to gather in a socially distanced group and if not, have a combination of a virtual and in person gathering. We want everyone that wants to participate to have the opportunity.We will be having a socially distanced Board meeting on Saturday, May 23 and will report to all of you. We have made progress on the rebuilding of the community ramp and will provide an update with current costs, projections and challenges. As usual, there are always a few other issues and we will be sending out the annual budget summary.If anyone has an issue that you would like to discuss at the Board meeting please call or email any of the Board members. Hey Neighbors, many of us have our pets with us up here on the island. I’ve been asked to put a short note asking that we really make an effort to keep control of our animals. No pilot needs to have to do a go around, whether it is caused by deer, geese or dogs (or mowers for that matter.)
Also, there are sheep (both old and young) on the south side of the island that don’t need to be disrupted by our dogs. They have enough trouble with the Bald Eagles (eagles have to eat too I think!)
