Info from Charlene Renquist regarding “Fire Wise”

Sometimes pictures that I post appear fuzzy on some computer screens.  I’m working on a fix, but in the meantime, any picture that you see posted on the site can be enlarged and made very clear by pointing your mouse at it and “clicking” it.

There was a large crowd Saturday night in Bob Brunkows hangar listening to Kate Schuman and Keith Busha make music. It was a great event, thanks Bob! Also, good picture..

The next morning brought light rain for the community meeting. I’ll post the draft minutes when I get them, but a couple items of interest – June B and Denny S agreed to serve another term on the board, so we have the same board members for at least another year. Charlene arranged for a member of the San Juan Island fire department to give us a little talk about a program called “FireWise”, more info on that later.

May 2013 Owners Meeting

Later that day we had the annual Memorial Day social hour and pot luck. It is always a nice evening talking with our neighbors. Sally thanks for bringing the coconut dessert!

I set up an area for information regarding properties for sale.  I also added a link to our friends Dick and Zita Sandmeyer, they are real estate agents that are very active on our island.  Go check out the “Buying or selling property” area under “neighborhood” above.

Here’s a little more info about the Meetings/Potluck on Memorial Day weekend..

The May board meeting will be held on Saturday, May 25th, at 10 am.  The meeting will be at the community building.  The agenda follows (click to make it bigger)…

The annual Owners meeting will be held the next morning, May 26th, at 10 am, also at the community building.  The Owners meeting agenda follows..

As usual, there will be a social gathering (5pm) followed by a potluck on Sunday (6 pm).

Here are some details about the upcoming event at Bob Brunkows hangar.  Thanks Bob, it sounds great.

“You’re invited to a hangar party Memorial day weekend, Saturday May 25th, at Bob Brunkow’s hangar.

Kate Schuman and Keith Busha will be bringing their great music to our island playing a mix of pop and jazz standards, country songs, a little blues, and Patsy Cline tunes. Kate has done a series of sold out shows with her Patsy Cline review.

Stuart style party… Bring your chairs and BYOB and some snacks if you’re so inclined.

We start around 6:30 and wrap up around 9 or so.

Should be a fun Stuart evening.”

Bob Brunkow will host a wonderful evening of entertainment at his hangar on island, on 5/25.  We’ll get details to you as soon as everything is finalized, but in the meantime,

Here’s the “friendly reminder” that I just got from the state.  If you don’t comply you’ll probably have to pay $10 extra for your next license, fyi.

The President recently designated the new San Juan Islands National Monument.  Here is a link to the Seattle Times article with some information about this story.  Read the 4 page proclamation included in the post.  It looks like the Turn Point Lighthouse on Stuart Island is included, as well as Patos Island and a couple other spots.  The last page seems to indicate that flying light planes won’t be impacted (hopefully).
