Ok so the rain came and the snow is mostly gone, high tides have slowed the water runoff, runway is very mucky, as in not suitable for anything but tundra tires.
This is the current Pirep from Vince, our man on the scene. This happens every winter, after heavy rains and/or snow. If you land and hit the wrong spot, with small tires, you will get stuck and damage the runway. Please, lets let the runway dry out a little bit before we use it.
From Vince 1/6 (Thanks Vince)
After very cold temps and deep freezing plus snow we got a thaw, guess what 2″ new snow today. Runway is very soft. Center is still fair but sides are very wet. I’ll check back when snow is clear.
The board has decided to ban hunting on community property. Also, per Washington hunting regulations, you cannot hunt on private land without written permission from the owner of the land, and you must have, in your possession, the original permission document.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Hey Pilots, if you fly in here you know about the area on the west end, middle of the runway, that has been a real trouble spot for years – grass wont grow, it’s pure clay, etc. Well, a big load of gravel has been put on this area, in an effort to help firm it up. So, until the gravel works its way into the ground, just beware – we wanted to let you all know about this activity.
