I was not exactly sure how to summarize this, so here is the whole tamale. First is an email from the WPA Tom Jensen, and then a message from Warren Hendrickson.

Earl and Rhys,
Good friend (he’s everybody’s good friend) Warren Hendrickson is leads a group that cares for the West Point lighthouse on Stuart Is. He is barging a replacement trailer to the island (for the summer caretaker) on June 22. He has offered to share barge space and cost. I’m behind the 8 ball on contacting you, but it’s never too late. Interested? Please contact Warren and perhaps post under the SI owners web page “transportation” tab.

Hi Earl & Rhys,
Rhys, I am sure we have met previously on Stuart Island. Earl, if we haven’t, it’s a pleasure to meet you virtually.
Regarding Tom Jensen’s note below (and he is far too generous with his kind words – plus I’m just a simple worker bee…): While we are considering leveraging the use of the Pintail barge trip that is planned to support Turn Point Lighthouse on June 22nd, please allow me to throw another idea into the mix.
The purpose of this barge trip is to place a new travel trailer at Turn Point in place of the existing one. The trailer is used by light station docents during the July-September period when the museum and keepers’ quarters are open to the public. The existing trailer there had one primary limitation – only one bed. At times, friends or parent/child – as opposed to couples – would serve as docents and the sleeping arrangements left much to be desired. So we have invested in a bigger 2008 travel trailer that has three total beds available via a fold-out sofa and a break-down dinette, in addition to the master, affording much more privacy when warranted. TMI I’m sure, but now you have the full story.
So now we have an older and perfectly functional trailer that needs a home. Right now our plan is to tow the trailer off island on the Pintail return trip and see what we can get for it via Craigslist. All we really want to do is try to offset some of the Pintail cost. I don’t have the specific year, make or model but I am sure I can get that info as well as some photos.
The thought occurred to me that perhaps someone on the island might actually enjoy having this trailer. If someone on Stuart Island is looking for an additional set of private sleeping accommodations to place adjacent to an existing cabin or home, this would be the perfect solution. We’d simply barge the trailer from the west end to the east end via the Reid Harbor landings. I will have my truck and I can tow it wherever it needs to go on the east end. All we’d be looking for is some reasonable offer – Mike Jonas on Orcas Island will handle that end of it for TPLPS.
I have cc’d both Mike and Jim Bergquist on this e-mail. Both are TPLPS Board members (TPLPS = Turn Pont Lighthouse Preservation Society, tplps.org). Mike lives on Orcas. Jim lives on Stuart Island’s west side and can provide the trailer specifics.
Please give this idea widespread dissemination among the Stuart Island Owners. If someone was already thinking about something like this but the barge expense was a major show-stopper, well we may just be able solve that problem. Thanks for your help!
By the way, I will be personally staying at the WPA cabin June 23-25. I will return to the island via a Cessna Cardinal (N1840Q) to finish up some additional work at Turn Point on Saturday/24th. I’ll be around the WPA cabin Friday evening, later Saturday evening, and Sunday morning.
Best regards,
Warren Hendrickson

I agree 100%
Personally we hope this trailer leaves the island completely. Don’t we have enough rotting camper trailers and old dying motor homes here? No more eyesores please!
