If anyone has seen, or has any information about a missing dinghy (gray 8′ Livingston) please let Mark Green know. It was last seen tied up on the Prevost dock. Thanks!

Reduced Ferry Schedule
Update – It looks like full service will be restored on July 29
I got this message from Charlene R (Thanks!) with info regarding ferry service to the islands. If you are planning on using the ferry to get up here plan ahead. I couldn’t get the link below to work for me, but if I find a good link I will post it.

Because of a generator failure on the M/V Yakima, the Anacortes/San Juan Islands/Sidney, BC route is operating on a four boat emergency schedule until another vessel can join the route and restore it to a full five-boat capacity. See the alternative schedule online at http://bit.ly/AnaSJsTempSchedule.Sailing times have been adjusted to prioritize domestic travel in the San Juan Islands, canceling the morning international sailings to and from Sidney, British Columbia. For domestic travelers, customers with existing reservations will get priority on a first-come, first-served basis each day. Reservation holders who choose not to travel will not be charged a no-show fee and don’t need to cancel their reservation.
July 4th
It was pretty crowded up here on the weekend before July 4th. The happy hour and potluck was a great success, I think there were more people there than there has been at prior events. We ran out of tables.
A group of neighbors met and made quick work of the trees that fell during the big winds last winter. Thanks to everyone who showed up and helped out – it went quickly with all the help that showed up. Thanks to Rhys and McKenzie for bringing out the big chainsaws. I know Rhys went thru at least 2 chains.
Lighthouse/Barge/Read this
I was not exactly sure how to summarize this, so here is the whole tamale. First is an email from the WPA Tom Jensen, and then a message from Warren Hendrickson.

New Date for 4th Of July
I just received this message from the board…
Hello all,
At the yearly meeting, it was proposed that the 4th of July activities this year be held on Saturday, July 1st. After some consideration, and a realization that many people won’t even be arriving until Saturday this year (as the 4th falls closer to a Monday than a Friday, and many will be spending Monday / Tuesday on the island), the board is moving the date for the festivities to be Sunday, July 2nd instead. The potluck will also be moved to Sunday, rather than Saturday.
Additionally, I’ve had a number of inquiries about fair shares and other flying discounts from San Juan Airlines. For those of you who are unaware, Charlene and I are the new owners of the airline.
At some point, I’ll be working to set something up specifically for the island for consolidated cargo runs, charter ‘fare shares’ and other package opportunities. However, in the meantime, please feel free to send me an e-mail with your summer time flying requests, and we’ll be more than happy to try and coordinate with other islanders looking to share a charter. We run regular charters from Anacortes and Bellingham, but can basically fly anywhere within 150 miles of Bellingham rather easily.
Many thanks, we look forward to seeing you on July 2!

ALERT – New info It will be on July 2, not July 1 as originally planned
Hi All,
The July 4th activities will be on July 1, a Saturday. More info when I get it…
There is also going to be a “tree cutting work party”. Several trees were blown over during a winter storm – they are located just east of the community building. We are looking for volunteers to help cut limbs and if you participate there will be some firewood available. Bring a chainsaw if you have one. This will be on Friday 6/30, at 1pm.
Also, George and Charlene are going to host their annual cheese and wine party – all are invited. Below is a copy of a forum note that Charlene posted with more info.

Just bring a bottle of wine & a cheese (or appetizer of your choice) to share.
This should be early enough without interfering with dinner plans or other July 4th family holiday activities.
We look forward to hosting this event & at the same time celebrating Stuart Island’s newest “Septuagenarian” (70 year young) birthdays.
