Another runway report

from Vince…  (thanks Vince)

“Well a bit of dry finally arrived. Bob’s hanger west is semi firm ( winter firm). Use the center of runway stay off of sides and east end ( still very soft).  And keep your eyes open as someone is driving heavy machinery on the runway and cars. So there are some rather large ruts”

      • Hey, no worries on the repeat. You have to have your first comment approved (it is now) before comments automatically show up here. That keeps spam away, and there is a lot of it.
The runway is in pretty good shape, as long as it hasn’t rained in the last 24 hours. Stay basically in the middle, and stay away from the very east end. I came in yesterday and it was fine.
Once you leave the runway, be careful. If you are unsure, pull off the runway, stop your plane and get out and walk the area you intend to park at. There has been so much rain that some areas are really soft. I’ve seen a couple planes get stuck in the mud. 2 nights ago it rained as hard as I have seen up here.
As always, be careful of the geese and deer. That said, the deer have been avoiding social contact, very few around the east end of Stuart right now.
        Be careful, Greg

  1. Maybe we should put some prominent all weather signs up that says no driving on the runway. Put a sign up wherever there is access. Maybe that will help.
