Claim your dinghy

update..  We have a report that the owner of one of these boats tried to move her boat as requested, and it appears to have disappeared.  Please don’t consider any of these boats as “available for the taking” that is just not the case.  Just because the wording in the message includes “abandoned” does not mean they don’t have an owner.

Owners, the grassy area near the Prevost dock has several small boats in storage that need to be removed. Many of these haven’t been moved in years. I was asked to post the following message…

FROM THE STUART ISLAND ASSOCIATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
TO THE OWNERS OF THE ABANDONED DINGHIES BURIED IN THE GRASS AT PREVOST HARBOR: WOULD YOU PLEASE REMOVE THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OR THE ASSOCIATION WILL DISPOSE OF THEM. THANK YOU.

  1. Hi neighbors
It would appear that with the clean up encouragement my dinghy wandered off. I just put it down there last month so it should not have appeared to be abandoned or overgrown. It’s a 6ft Livingston with a set of oars underneath it. It can be identified by some old metal motor mount pieces sticking up on the stern. If you took it by mistake I would greatly appreciate its return!
    Thank you!

    • Well that is certainly a shame. I don’t know what the boards plan is for abandoned boats, but it certainly does not include unilaterally taking over any of the boats.
